I made this cake for the birthday of my friend and coworker, Janet Cane, on October 10, 2005. She works with me at Steinberg Architects in San Jose, Ca. The rubber ducky idea came from all the gazillions of themed rubber duckies that litter her desk. It was so much fun to make!
The cake is made from the famous "Chocolate Blackout Cake" recipe by Margaret Braun. The filling is a raspberry italian meringue buttercream with giant whole raspberries. The icing is colored italian meringue buttercream. The eye and horn are made from fondant.
